| Well, it's been a while, but I'm only popping in to say this site is officially closed. Now, sure I could just cancel the account, but what if someone came looking for me? I can't rob the world of that.
Anywhoo....too many websites, too little time. No one seems to flock to xanga anymore, so you can find me one of two places....
My Website: www.memphismusicman.com MySpace: www.myspace.com/jonmbrewer
Keep it real xanga, til we meet again.

| Since everyone has left XANGA for the greener pastures of MySpace and FaceBook, I'm not even sure if anyone will read this, but hey, I figure it's been almost two months...the world is screaming for more Jon....way more. Start of on a bummer....my grandma died this week. She was 83 and had been pretty sick for a while, so much in the same way we couldn't mourn TOO much for my father's death...we can't be TOO sad for her. She was one of the coolest people I had ever known, and had a great life. In other news, I am now a full time music teacher, having abandoned the world of furniture for a full-time schedule at Bartlett Music Academy teaching piano AND voice. That's right....voice. This is only funny if you have ever heard me sing. Oh well....it's mucho fun. Zoe just went to Sweden and broght me back some Sweedish chocolate....so the diet is temporarily on hold until it's all gone....it's awesome. My various piano playing outlets in town have led me to an untapped genre in my experience.....I am playing keyboard for the "next big thing in country music." OK, maybe not, but he's pretty good and it's fun work.....I'll see you all in Nashville. (Check him out on treyjewell.com) Anywhoo, for the two people who might be reading this, I'll see you all when something else happens, until then, I remain.... Holla' | | |
| Just a quick update for some exciting news... So ever since I started Weight Watchers (26 lbs and counting, by the way) I started going to the gym. Now, I HATE the gym with an unbridled passion. Most of the equiptment I don't even know how to contort my body into the right way, and everyone there seems to be in better shape than me. But alas, for my commitment to physical fitness, I went. But then....I decided I needed more... Much more... So for the past month I have been a student of the contemporary martial art of Krav Maga (yes, it's a real sport, look it up). Krav Maga is a type of martial arts which combines fitness and defense and all that good stuff into one hellacious work-out. So it beats the gym, in my humble opinion, and I now know how to throw a punch without breaking my thumb. Besides, if anyone is secure enough in their manhood to take a self defense class, it's me. OH, there are disadvantages, though....
My first black eye....you should have seen the person that gave this nice lil' shiner to me.... SHE was tough.... Holla' | | |
| Or wherever I might have been hiding out these days...
All is well in Jon-world for anyone who cares. I have been working all summer, enjoying the luxuries of living on my own (and the bills!), and exploring new little ventures here and there. Where shall I begin?
I decided it was "put up or shut up" as far as my musical abilities go, so I have been prostituting my musical self all around the great city of Memphis. I have had a few gigs playing piano (most notably at the Peabody Hotel) and things are GREAT. The gentleman I work for at the Peabody put me in touch with a lot of people around town and I have been auditioning and playing and just trying to make something out of nothing. I'm still selling furniture, so I haven't achieved "starving artist" status yet, but it's been a lot of fun. I am working on a demo CD to complete my "promotional kit" to search out even more opportunities. Memphis is a good place to be if you want to be an independant musician, so things are good. More to come, I hope.
In other news, I just got back a few weeks ago from a cross country voyage that culminated at Zoe's father's lake house in upstate New York. I saw Niagara Falls, went as far north as I have ever been, swam in deep water for the first time (with the aid of a trusty life jacket, of course) and just had one awesome week or relaxation. Pictures coming soon...
My legal battles are still rocking and a rollin', but soon to be over (yeah, I know I've said that before). I am currently filling out paper work which is a pre-pre-pre dismissal process. I have to meet with someone tomorrow and basically convince them I am an asset to society. Shouldn't be too hard, right? Eh, who am I kidding....I'm screwed.
My mom bought a house...which is no really big news unless you take into consideration my mom was a minister's wife and they never had need for a house before. So at the ripe age of ::if i told you she would kill me:: my mom is a homeowner. Go mom! I spent all weekend moving her. I am sore.
School starts in a few weeks and I will once again be proudly displaying the colors of the ULM INDIANS, er, WARHAWKS! 18 hours of online classes, a few CLEP tests, and graduation is nipping at my nose quicker than Jack Frost.....
Speaking of which, I'll be on campus the first day of classes, which is becoming my semester-starting tradition. Say hello to me if you see me. My therapist says you'll be helping my self-esteem :)

| Another weblog entry in under a week? Reminds me of the old days....
Not much to say, except that I am officially "in" my new place, and I am enjoying it very much. The only thing missing is Elsie the cat, and she will arrive shortly via the Zoe Pet Carrier Service. Mucho excitement.
I got a phone call last night from everyone's favorite Fieselman.....Daniel. It was odd to talk to my old roomate since, for one I hadn't seen or spoken to him since "the incident" and two, we'd kinda fallen out of touch way before then, anyway. Anywhooo, he seems to be doing well, playing on the cruise ship circuit. ::sigh:: Memories...
My updates might be brief for a bit (could they get much more infrequent?) due to the fact I am on my own and internet is a luxury that might wait until NEXT month. Oh well, I'll hop on when I can to check out all the comments I know everyone has so anxiously posted for me.
